hmm...is the solara tranny a straight drop in or does it require some modification to make it fit? so with the other countries that made the 6th gen with the 3sgte, is that an awd, rwd, or fwd platform?

the 6th gen gt4 was an awd turbo celica... just like the all tracs of the usa... The solara tranny as far as I've heard has never had any problems bolting to a 3sgte... I was going to go with the 2nd gen 3sgte motor and solara tranny when I was going to do the swap to my 90 gt-s... but I sold it, lol

i know the all-tracs were awd...but the solara...thats a fwd platform, so wouldnt you have to modify the drivetrain to make it compatable? i might just be retarded....unless you can change it during the swap...

the tranny unattaches from the engine... u take the awd all trac tranny off and hook up the solara tranny... since ur car is already FWD it shouldn't have a problem. but anything and everything can be changed during a swap, lol... IF and when I do a swap to my rolla... I was thinking about doing the 3sgte swap with an AE86 RWD tranny... that would take alot of modification for the engine to fit and also to change out the drivetrain... but ur car being FWD and the solara as well... u shouldn't need to change out the actual drive train

Hi, I am sort of new here too, I just scored a MKIX 6 weeks back and find it to be just wickedly cool, pluss havin the 2JZ-GTE six 3L twin turbo is alot of fun, Still sussing out the ins and outs of the Supra, but getting there, I too had a GT4 91 Model, and a 90 GT4 I stripped for parts, in the 4 years I owned the GT4, I stuffed 2X motors ( DID 3X rebuilds ) Killed 1X gearbox, Burntout 1X HD Clutch kit, fryed 2X CT-26 turbos 1X set tyers, and spent 3 grand on servisses+rust repares, My 4th rebuild of the 2L 3S-GTE motor is Half way done from ground up, its going into My Celica GTR FWD , And just sold my GT4 to some person thats going to pimp it out, witch was my plans , untill I scored the Supra, now thats the new Mish to work on, eg: 3" exhaust, No Cat , Pod filter and battery in da boot with custom made subs+amps, thats stage 1, stage 2 is custom sports exhaust manufold with exturnal wastgate 38MM, twin T3/4 turbos ratted at 350 to 550 HP, custom made inlet manufold 6X 600cc injectors with 2X xtra 600 Injectors , 2X HiFlow Fuel pumps with serg tank, bigger fruntmount intercooler, and I will stop dreaming now, well for now, it will happen one day next year, Sold my GT4 for $3500 NZ dollar was in average con, new recon motor and good inside car, was a bitch to drive due to the clutch bein so hard and tuchy, but you move on to better and briter things, The supra cost $16,000 off the car lot as a signiture car AA aproved.Any Q's welcome
