Sorry to bring this back from the dead (especially as I'm a new member... hello everyone), but I've been looking into this for a bit now. Does anyone actually KNOW anyone who has imported a Supra? I have many reasons for wanting to import (some of which include that they are about half the price, they are RHD, and they usually have much lower milage). I am also in a unique position in that I can actually GO TO THE CAR and check it out before actually laying money down. So far I've found Japan-Partner to be a good place to shop, though I'm still like 4 hours from Nagoya. I need someone with experience in legalizing an import to tell me how much of a hassle it would be and how much it would cost.

Now, as far as shipping is concerned, I've heard anywhere from 1500 to 2500 so I'll just say 2000. Ok so now we are at $8k, but that still gives me at least 5 thousand dollars to play with as far as making it legal before it's the same price as usdm. Like I said, I don't actually know how much it costs, and if it's over five thousand dollars, I probably will just buy usdm, but until I find out, this looks like a much better deal. |
