Default New! And want to buy a Supra

Hi,
Im new and need all the help i can get. Im looking at a supra currently its a 1993 Twin Turbo Manual. Does this mean it is a 2JZ engine? And i havent found out yet but should it be a 6 speed or 5 speed? As far as performance goes on the twin turbo Supras, they all have the 2JZ engine and there are all the same from 1993 to 1998 arent they? 208kw yes?
Also is there anything i should reali look for in them that goes wrong? lik clutch or gearbox or do they rust or anything anywhere?
And when i have bought one are they expensive for parts etc? How often do they need to be tuned and how much does an average tune cost?
Also wot does the model letters mean etc SZ or RZ etc??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Nothing out of the ordinary goes wrong with a well-maintained Mkiv Supra TT if it is 'bone-stock', under about 90,000 miles. About the only minor item on the '93s is the hatch rattle. Above about 90,000 miles, there are a couple of items not mentioned in the owner's manual that need to be replaced, like the coilpacks and the harmonic dampener/crank pulley.

Yes. It's a $50,000USD sportscar (msrp), so don't expect it to be as cheap to maintain as a corolla. For example, the relatively wide, 17"+, soft-rubber/z-rated tires (that last as little as 10K miles), and full synthetic oil changes are a couple of the items that can be somewhat tough on the pocketbook.

It doesn't ever need to be re-tuned (as long as you keep it bone-stock), but you do need to maintain it according to the owner's manual (including changing the spark plugs, timing belt, fluids, etc. according to schedule). Also, if you raise the boost and run leaded race fuel in it, the O2 sensor and the catalytic converters would need to be changed prematurely.

NB: Please consider posting any help requests in a new thread instead of asking me for help privately. About 99.9+% of the time, private help requests end up covering great information that could be very valuable to other forum members. If you have a good reason for needing the help request to be private, I'll consider it. If not, then why not give everyone else the opportunity to pitch in too, and/or learn from the information? Remember, there's no such thing as a dumb question. We're all here to help within this family of Supra owners.
