Well its not rocket science but its not like chaging the alternator.

On a scale from 1 to 10 for me making a mkiv 6speed from a TT would be like a 7.5
( keep in mind that this is major work that you are doing not some small stuff like a break upgrade or a new suspension )

you can pick up a tranny for about 3 gs. ( good one) then you are talking about redoing the column , differential ( if you want , its better ) I think the shaft needs to be replaced , good clutch and I think some other things that would be described in the link above..
Depending if you are doing this yourself and where and what kind of parts you use.. ( most expensive items will be tranny , diff, possobly a GOOD clutch )
it all depends on what and how you do it.. you can get it done anywhere from ( 3,500 to 10,000 )

Well my first question is why would you want to change from manual to auto? Usually people want to do the opposite.

yeah thats true but people wanna do both.... auto ppl wanna go 6speed for their reasons and some want to get a build tranny other reasons like for drag....

i have auto and i wanted 6speed for a long time... but for me it too much work and money... so i will just build the auto and be fine with that.. maybe someday when i am bored and have some money i will go 6 speed but for now too much money too much things too do too many things to get. Plus auto trannys are cheap unless your going th400 or powerglide or something in the Non Toyota fashion. pick or stick with a tranny based on what you want to do with the car and what fits you . don’t listen to anybody about what’s better because both have advantages and disadvantages it really comes down to what you want and what’s better for YOU...
