well...teh rx7 motor can last longer than 50k...depends on how u take care of it and what you put into it...theres a difference from teh factory the 2jz u can basically beat the hell out of it right out of the factory and it still be amazing at 50k...with an rx7 its not as durable from teh factory..so beating the crap out of it for 50k miles would be ill advised, though doing the right upgrades to beef up the 13b it will be pretty stout and can handle a lot of power and abuse...jsut depends on how much you are willing to spend and doing your research

What about all the inheirent problems the RX7 has? I assume we're talking about the 3rd gen. Like the engine bay catching fire due to the fuel line being routed poorly. I also hear the cat sits right under the turbo causeing the turbo to get to hot. I also hear of the engine by getting realy hot as well. I've heard of it melting the plasic fans. Also the RX7 gets much worse gas milage, and you have to put oil in it like a two stroke engine. So I guess if you do a conversion to get the cat out of the engine bay, switch out the plastice fans for metal and find a way to better insulate the fule line it might reliably get you to work every day and blow the doors off of about 97% of the cars on the road....But this is just what I heard when I was looking to get one. People who have ound them might dissagree, in which case I would listen to them.

well those are some of the problems that commonly occur in the car...but that only happens when people drive them hard while stock...i dont know why.. but for me a car should be able to be driven hard stock... and the rx7 if driven hard often..those problems occur, though i dont think teh gas mileage is terrible...i know if your seals are messed up then you gotta keep putting in oil...otherwise theres no oil problem
