Exclamation Tuning Software Options

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and I'm looking to pick up a supra. What kind of tuning software is needed to tune the Mark 4? How expensive, and is there any wire cutting? What is Megasquirt and AEM?

An oem mark 4 can't be tuned with software. However, you can put on aftermarket 'piggyback' ecus or standalone oem ecu replacements (eg. AEM), some of which need to be tuned with their brand-specific software. With the piggybacks and some of the stanalone ecus, there is wire cutting unless you use a field's harness.

By the way, why do you think you would want to "tune" an mk4...especially the TT? The air-fuel mixture and timing curve is already properly tuned to run under boost. If you want to increase the horsepower you need to find ways to raise the boost...not "tune" it. The aftermarket ecus are mostly for retuning after you've replaced the oem fuel injectors and increased the size of the turbocharger(s), if you want to modify your mk4 tt that extensively.

NB: Please consider posting any help requests in a new thread instead of asking me for help privately. About 99.9+% of the time, private help requests end up covering great information that could be very valuable to other forum members. If you have a good reason for needing the help request to be private, I'll consider it. If not, then why not give everyone else the opportunity to pitch in too, and/or learn from the information? Remember, there's no such thing as a dumb question. We're all here to help within this family of Supra owners.
