the w58 is strong just not as strong as the r154 i hear it can handle up to 400hp and people say the w58 shifts smoother than the r154, you can put a w58 on a 7mgte if yo dont plan on going above 400hp only difference is the driveshaft length and spline count

ok well i have a friedn that is a toyota tech i took my car into him put new tranny fluid in for me today and he road tested it and wow it shifts so much smoother and nicer but it still makes the buzzing sound in the tranny but i have a feeling itll be fine for quite a while still cause we drove it preeety hard and ran perfect still i also found out that we can do 2nd gear chirps with the wheels and fuck i didnt even know but we even pulled of a 3rd gear wheel chirp like 5 times like it was nothing didnt no the car could do that lol

and also do you know where i can purchase a w58 transmission and is it a direct fit onto the 7mgte?

oowee623 09-01-2007 09:50 PM

try a local tranny shop or junkyard it is a direct fit except the front half of the driveshaft is different and the slave cylinder is too. so is the pressure plate but the the clutch is the same oh and the release bearing is different too
