well even if he did take off the egr himself
see how the block-off plate looks like if it sits perfectly to the manifold it might be a jdm engine or it could jus be a jdm intake manifold used with the motor but check the plates anyways, they might give you a clue if its a jdm motor and the pipe on the heater core it the driver-side is blocked off and the opening is on the passenger side its a jdm motor
