Default Pistons that keep your hood up

What are those called? Where can I get them and how Do i know what to buy? should I just take the old ones into an auto-parts store and tell them to match it up?

They are support cylinders but are just struts filled with nitrogen that notoriously leak, they won't be cheap either. The dealer here wants around 80 dollars a piece for them, so I have a nice metal rod I found to prop it up after I left my broomstick at the mechanics.

I should order some, the rod and broomstick trick are getting old and that price seems pretty good.

Any discount auto store sells them, but don't expect them to be in stock. They are called hood struts. $20 each, I just replaced mine a couple months ago.

I bought a set of these from horse power freaks for under 40 bucks.

I have always called them hood struts till parts guys started asking me what they were and correcting me.

I attribute it to long hours alone with a car in the garage. You start to speak in slang or some shit.
