I a similar problem when I first bought my supra. Turned out to be the radiator cap, the dealership I bought it from put the wrong cap on and my coolent got up and disappeared, though there was a fair bit of overheating involved with that while the car wasn't in motion.

should i try some of that "add this to your coolant system to stop leaks" stuff i've seen?

^ DO NOT DO THAT! That stuff will make more problems and clog the heater core and that is not good. I seen another thread and someone used that stuff and it made problems for him. Just fix the problem and do not put a patch on it because it will come back later if not done right.

could be what rinso said my radiator cap is going out on me and i have your problem

Yah, but I had them put it through a pressure test, don't you think they would have noticed something?

They definately would have noticed something out of whack. I guess your problems lay elsewhere!
