3s-gte in 89 supra

i was wonding how hard it is 2 put a 3s-gte in 2 a 1989 supra or if any 1 has done it

dcrusupra 04-14-2007 11:25 PM

Cant, 3s-gte are only set-up for front wheel drive or all wheel drive. Since its a front wheel drive engine it sits sideways, so it won't fit into the engine bay.

There are some mk4's with them so I assume it could be done.

:outahere:

I guess it can be done, lol. 1 question would be why?

I know nothing about this engine but how would an engine and the direction it sits in another car affect it fitting in a soup?

supramacist 04-15-2007 04:38 PM

Isn't the 3s a soarer engine??

Supra2NR 04-15-2007 06:31 PM

Ddnt the soarers have the 1j?

And they put the 3sgte in a supra for sum reason
Either to loose more weight for rally since the 3sgte is able to hold up to 500hp
Or to compete in a 4 cylinder class

supradude27_ 04-15-2007 07:36 PM

3sgte

the 3sgte is out of a celica and i want to do it cause u can sit it behind the front wheels to be able to drift it

Supra2NR 04-15-2007 08:08 PM

Why would you sit it in front of the front wheels, isn't the supra front-heavy enough already???

That's why its so hard to get an angle with the supra cuz of it, that's what makes it spin out during a drift

This actually is a pretty neat idea, would be cool to duplicate what they did in an MKIV, only in your '89
