I just saw a bit of a rust spot on my car. Whats the best way of going about fixing it?

i just did this a couple of days ago. i had rust on my wheel walls and i used 60 - 80 grit sandpaper and sanded to the bare metal then went over it again and sanded with 120 - 150 grit and got it nice and smooth then took a wet cloth and wiped it down and sprayed primer on it. i got primer that best closely matched the paint. hope that helps.
