Default ngk iridiums

i was wondering if anyone has had any problems with the ngk iridiums xi. and what there supposed to be gapped at. the plugs are all black and they are new plugs. and if they are gapped wrong could it make your car idle rough. like for example when im in idle, the exhaust breaks up and black specs get over everything behind the car, and when i give it some gas in neutral it feels like it wants to shut off. or could these problems be due to my timing not set right, like to high (higher than 10 degrees) any help woould be greatly appreciated

I've ran NGK iridium IX's with no problems.

Spark plug gap for the 7M-GTE is .8 mm or .031 in.

Ignition timing on 87-88 turbos is 10 degrees BTDC.

Ignition timing on 89-on turbos is 12 degrees BTDC.

Make sure you set BASE ignition timing by disabling the electronic advance.

To disable the electronic advance on 87 and later models, jumper terminals E1 and TE1 at the diagnostic connector.

Ever run a compression test on your engine?
