Hey just to let u know there is no such thing as transmission fluid in a manual car, the rest of the list is once in a life time jobs. However , its better to be safe than sorri. Good luck and have fun man!

what i mean flush the tranny fluid is that... once in the blue moon.... i do a tranny gear oil change.... on my 5speed tranny.... and also the rear dif.tial too... on the 5speed tranny there is a bolt from underneath the car... you need to lose it up... and also the one from the side of the tranny where you can pump a new gear oil to it... untight that one too so you can pump the new fluid aka gear oil to it...
also the rear dif.tial too... i do the same thing... when i first got the car and change the rear dif.tial gear oil... the gear oil is blacky as black.... after i do a change my car running little bit better then before... now i happy with it... on my other automatic supra... i does change my transmission filt.. and it comes with the kit.... kits = transmission filter and the transmission gasket... |

ok buy in the middle of the engine there a canister that has a "T" on it. it has a dip stick that say hot or cold. mind you its in the middle top left side. i cant read it what on it but it say to fill with dexton 3 tmf. know you say that you dont have to change in a full blue moon but last night coming home, in first it sound like a piece of metal was grinding on the floor. when i got into second it went away, but only happens in first at low speeds "below 20." i dont know what the hell it is but it sounds and feel like its coming from the transmission. so i fig that since dextron 3 tmf stands for transmission fluid i filled it up. know if i am wrong plz let me know and tell me what the sound i am hearing.
also its a 88 turbo manual, and its my first time on stick, so if you live in arizona and you see some one that having a hard time feel free to laugh |

The toyotas use dex3 in the power steering. Keep that filled to the 'hot' line, so you don't run out and ruin the pump or rack. If you find that you need to fill it often, then you will need to find the leaks and fix.
The tranny has a drain plug on the bottom, and a fill plug on the side. Use something like 75w-90 gear oil, or synthetic. The grinding sound is probably a bearing in the trans. If it continues after the oil change, have a 'trusted' tranny shop listen to it and give their opinion/quote$$. Same 2 type plugs on the rear end (diff). I use Amsoil synthetic gear oil, but you can use the same as for tranny. I ALWAYS change all the fluids when I get a vehicle. I want to see how bad the old looks, and know that I am starting out new. If you see a silvery look to the old diff or tranny oil, that is metal, and you might need a rebuild. Although, I have seen many that lasted for several more years with new oil.
