i dont know how hard it is to pull the cable through the firewall but its not difficult seperating it from the cluster. to disconnect it from the tranny you might wanna jack it up in the air. there is a line on the passenger side of the tranny, that is you speedo cable, might need some channel locks to break it loose.

not really sure but i think the part that connects to the tranny is just a big bolt that you have to unscrew.(not 100% sure)

I did mine a couple of weeks ago. Took about 45 minutes and about 3 beers. You have to take your instrument cluster out which is pretty straight forward. The speedo cable unclips from the top(underneath the instrument cluster) and unscrews at the bottom(where it goes into the tranny). The only other bit holding it in is a grommet where it passes through the firewall. Poke the grommet through the firewall and the speedo cable can be pulled up and out of the dash. Pretty easy. The hardest part was getting the grommet back in the hole in the firewall afterwards but with a bit of swearing and cursing, you get there.

The speedo cable is two pieces so find out which one is bad first or just buy both pieces. The one coming out of the tranny is the shorter of the two. You could take it off and if it spins freely its good, then do the same with the other. There is also a plastic gear in the transmission that drives the cable that can wear out.

i think we should start talking time in terms of beers drank.

'it took me 4 beers to get home from work cause i got caught behind an accident' or 'my quarter mile is 1/60th a beer'

what you guys think? sorry didnt mean to hijack the post, just had an idea and thought i should share it
