I believe you need a diffrent tranny but i could be wrong... I have a 3JZ engine ready for swap out but I am waiting to make sure I have all the required parts.

You should learn a little more and do some reasearch before you attempt an engine swap lol. The easisest thing to do, If you have all the tools, Is either pull your motor out, Or buy another, And rebuild it. But, You might have to get a new crank if yours is fried too bad. Youll most likeley need a new connecting rod too. The rebuild will probably cost 1000-1500, Depending on what you rebuild. But while you have the motor out, Do the HG, water and oil pump, timing belt, valve cover gaskets, Make sure all the sensors are good while you can reach them, ETC.

Hey, I've been out shopping around and found a 1JZ that I would love to put it in my car. Since my engine has a rod knock, I've been searching and found the perfect engine swap. Now, I'm wondering if the R35? (Tranny for the 7MGTE) would fit the 1JZ? Also, what other misc parts should I buy? Do I need another ECU? I'm so confused at this time. I also found another 7MGTE but if I could just swap out the 7MGTE to the 1JZGTE, I would definitely be happy! =) In other words, is there more to it then to just swap the engine or do I need to buy other parts? Thanks you guys!
if our comparing the 7m vs the 1jz
if your planning to jus keep the wngine how it is without any more power mods
by all means go for the 1jz
im not saying that it cant get big hp
but aftermarket support is somewhat lesser than the 7m
and theyre basically the same engine
in my opinion stay with the 7m engine
