Question Heater

where i live it is getting colder and colder....especially in the morning.

in the mornings i let my car warm up the head out. i noticed the heat in my car wasnt as strong as it usually is and it eventually died off after about 10 minutes (i get room temp air blowing in my face).

the next day the same thing happened -hot air for a while then just cold air after ~10 minutes.

my air conditioning already doesnt work; now my heat is going

anybody know what is wrong?

sounds like your heater unit has some dry joints

you could try resoldering them or just get a known good second hand one

If the water valve is fully open, then I'd say the core is almost plugged up. After some air passes over it, there is not enough hot water to keep it warm.

Run the blower on low speed, and use recirc air, until you can get it fixed.

Not enough coolant flow thru the core. What thermostat are you running?? I use a 180* in the summer, and a 195* in the winter.

That 15* makes a lot of difference in the heater operation, but not in the overall engine temp, as it never get close to 1/2 on the gage.

That is because I'm using the heater, which cools the engine too.

stock thermostat is 195*. But that is also for emmision control. My VSV was bad, so I just hook the vacuum hose directly to the water valve in the winter, and remove (and plug with golf tee) in summer.

Hook the vacuum hose direct and see if heat improves.

180* thermo seems to be ideal.
