well, the main thing is, I ain't got a 1jz engine even though I got a 1990 MKIII 3.0 Turbo Supra. But I read a thread were people were talking about converting a 7M-GTE to a 1JZ. And a 1JZ can be blended with parts of the 2JZ engine to get a 1.5JZ. So am I totally blind to suppose that it's possible to go from a 7M-GTE to a 15.JZ? Well , "inline6 turbo" (user name), see what you can find out plz. It would be a considerable update for the mark III.

It is possible to go from a 7m to a 1.5jz. Take out your 7m and sell it to me for free, then buy a 2jz bottom end and put a 1jz head on top off the 2jz bottom end and install it in your car. Its not rocket science. All the info is out there if you'd just look. There is a search button, use it and this is not the best forum for finding out things like this.

well, I want to move up step by step. Well, you made me curious though... why would you want a 7m if you already know how to create a 1.5JZ? Is the 1.5JZ inferior to the 7m block? Cause I thought the 1.5JZ had an higher performance...

frostburn 08-16-2006 01:24 AM

it definitly does have a higher performance... the 7m is a good engine also though... and i may have one for sale soon, for all those interested... its got 153km on it.

resurrecta 08-16-2006 01:35 AM

that's 153 thousand... I'm guessing ... Even, if I knew the disadvantages of the 1.5JZ and how to construct it (what exact parts) I could even consider ditching my 7m too.

1.5jz swap will cost $5000+ and you will still have less hp then my 7m, a lot less.

a 1jz, 2jz or 1.5jz(a combo of the 1j and 2j motors) are stronger platforms to build off in stock form. 7m is very capable of producing 800+rwhp. What are you goals?

resurrecta 08-17-2006 12:01 AM

Well, the goal is simple. To get the car as fast as it can. But... Of course, weight plays an important part in it. However, it's not only about speed, it's also about stamina. What use is a car if can't last because of over-performance.
That's why I figured hitting a 1.5 JZ would be the most useful to start from...

Whats your budget?

resurrecta 08-23-2006 12:29 AM

My budget doesn't matter really. I'm even considering a 2JZ full swap. But what I don't know is... Can my 5-speed car be turned into a 6 speed when upgrading to a 2JZ? and what do I need to pull it off.

Plus like, I was watching a show on the discovery channel (gimme a break) and they were replacing something what we call the "bridge" in our language. It's like the main bar supporting the frame... And they removed it, replaced into full aluminum. This saves alot of weight... But could it be done for an MKIII?

Isphius 08-23-2006 12:40 AM

You would probably have an easier time saving up and buying a mk4....but maybe not. Ive heard it cane be done, But you have to cut/weld or bang out the trans tunnel, Which may mess with your interior. But the 5 speed seems fine and is plenty strong. There is a lot of work involved just to get 1 gear.
