I had about the same problem
With my 86.5 I ended up having to replce the negetive battery terminal because it had the factory one on it and it looked alright but upon further investigation it was cracked and loose next to the bolt that tightnes it hold onto the cable and twist the cable a little to bring pressure onto the terminal and have someone try to start it if it starts right away replace the cable connector then try again if it starts acting up again replace the battery. I deal with DC electrical systems everyday it is usually a connection.
