Put a new +1 mm ferrea valve train in a 7m and you'll be able to rev just as high, if not higher. Then put a lighter flywheel in it and you'll be able to rev faster. It all depends on personal preference. If i did get a 1jz id switch it to a single turbo. 1 big one beats 2 little ones.

Torque doesnt always necesarily make a car faster, But it does feel nice. Its good to have about the same tq/hp. Buttt, you want the torque down low, before the hps kick in. A 1j that did have the same torque via boost, would make it at a higher rpm than a larger motor, which is no fun. For the tq thing....think of how fast a tractor trailer is with and without a trailer. They make like 2500 lb ft of torque, not to sure on them, but its high. And they are hardly any faster with no tralier because they only have about 350 hp. Now stick a motor with even 1000 hp and 2500 lb-ft of torque in there, And...fast ass truck. And it can still tow a tralier.

Actually it is more like 400 hp and 3000 ft lbs of TQ but what you arent taking into effect is gear ratio. I drive a truck for a living, and they are quicker without a trailer because of the power to weight ratio, where a 1000 hp engine isnt going to do anything more than my 400hp engine because it is all about the TQ in a semi. The gears are set for low end torque, not top end hp or speed. That is the worst analogy I have ever seen on the HP vs TQ. All that 1000Hp would do is allow me to keep my speed on mountain climbs. All TQ is is the ability for a vehicle to propel itself foward, HP is there to make TQ. 1 hp is the ability to move appox. 500+ lbs. To much tq is just as bad as to much HP. it is all about balance. The more torque you have the faster you will accelerate, the more HP you have the higher your speed will be. 3000 ft lbs of tq and 400 hp will give you a top speed of about 110mph, where 1000hp and 1200 ft lbs of tq will put you over 200mph. All about balance. And 10,000 hp and 100 ft lbs of tq get you a high top speed but 2 weeks to get there.

NYTRYDR, before anything else do your reasearch go to wikipedia.org they have good info on supras and their engines learn something about the car then reasearch your goals for the car and choose 7mgte or 1jzgte. research torque and hp too since the post turned into a topic on it. if you dont know the difference between r154, w58, and a340e or what they are youre nowhere near ready for a swap. no offense but it seems like youre kinda lost, 1jz is a 2.5l and a 2jz is a 3.0l on the mk4s both can be single or twins. research toyota engines too, it will tell you what the numbers and letters mean. sorry if i sound like an asshole
