I have a 88 non turbo and was wondering if you have to take out the tranny when taking out the block? or could i just leave it in there when doing an engine rebuild?

Yes you can leave the tranny in, just dont forget to disconnect the sensors to the tranny. Also support the front of the transmission. I personally would just pull the trannt with the motor. It's much easier to take the 2 apart on the floor instead of shoehorned up in the car.

HEy, i am doing the same thing. I was just wondering, i am putting in a 89 7m-gte in to a 89 non turbo car, can i just leave/use the tranny in the 89 N/A or should i bring the 89 turbo's tranny with the engine , and do a complete tranny/engine swap. they are both 5 speeds. Thnx.

Take the NA tranny out, its junk compared to the turbo's tranny!
