You can do it. Try disconnecting the end at the throttle body, then have a friend hold the end while you step on the pedal. Is it very stiff?? It should feel very free.
You can take the cable out, then check by hand. It should feel (slide) freely. Spray with silicone inside it, and work it in/out, it should get freer. Put it all back together and try it. If it feels stiff, get a new one.
