Default Head Bolt Retorquing

When replacing a BHG with a stock or Fel-Pro gasket, has anyone retorqued the bolts/nuts after a few heating/cooling cycles? Did they move at all? I want to determine if these non-metal gaskets crush down a bit after heating a few times.

Bought a set of ARP bolts, not studs. Discovered that 10 of the 14 won't go into the head w/o grinding clearance into the bolt area. All 4 end bolts go in fine. So I used 4 of the ARP's and 10 stock bolts--all just torqued tonight to 72 ft. lb.

I really don't think the ARP bolts/studs solve anything. The stock bolts don't stretch (other than elastically just like the ARP's). The stock gasket crushes over time/heat and that's why the bolts get loose.

Anyone ever BREAK a stock bolt?

Cool

if you can do the studs do them instead of bolts .

be warned that when studs are on the head wil be a monster to get back on if the block is still in the engine

very old thread...but do the arp studs go in while the head is on? or is it possible to get the head over the studs while the block is still in the car, if you put the studs in the block first? I just got my HG set and studs, so someone respond quick!
