Default turbo conversion

Hey...i was just wondering. i searched around and couldnt really find any good posts of people that started a turbo from n/a conversion. i was just wondering, for small ammounts of boost, would the stock na ecu and injection system work? with maybe just a better fuel puno. i just want to get up to 8-10 lbs of boost. and i was wondering if i could put somethign like http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/86-92...QQcmdZViewItem

right on the stock motor. and if so, how much would it be to upgrade to the turbo controls and manifold? thanks in advance. also if anyone has done this converison before, please let me know

I remember Suprra Girl mentioning that conversion one time and if she ever comes back maybe she can let you know, it sounded like it worked pretty good, but I think you just couldn't boost it as much because of the higher compression ratio of the N/A engine. A lot of stuff to change out though, and not the least of which is the oil feed and return lines and water lines to the turbo, but anything can be done. Find and complete turbo donor with a dead engine and you can do it.

I thought about doing it with my 87 N/A but I found another turbo 87 and am glad I didn't have to try changing it over.

Let us know.

Cool

Before you make the boost higher you should upgrade to a Metal Head Gasket n ARP Head Studs just to be safe.after that you might be able to boost more. Its a bitch trying to put the metal head in by yourself

Good Luck!!!

is there anything wrong with the stock n/a ecu and intake manifold for running small ammounts of boost? also what exactly is involved in using the lexus afm/550 injector mod? does it just make the computer think its flowing less air and fuel than it really is? but since the injectors are larger they flow more per signal pulse from the ecu...? i just want to run about 8 psi, nothing big. ill just get a stock toyota HG and arp bolts and torque it to the higher specs ive been reading about. they seem to be fine for stock turbos. and thats pretty much what id be doing. maybe even a garett supercharger if i can.
