I run 15*. It is 'initial timing'. I would not run more than that. The computer will advance the timing as needed depending on need.
Pinging will happen under certain conditions when the timing is too far advanced, then the timing will be retarted by the computer. Advancing the timing does not 'increase' the actual HPs. It does, to some extent, put the HPs you do have to use a bit sooner. Too much advance will cause a miss at idle.
