Default 87 supra in thinking of buying

http://onfinite.three10.com/home/BigGuy624/album/33171/

1987 Supra TURBO, 2dr, 6cyl, Targa top, Very cold a/c, ABS, 5 speed standard transmission, Full power, Lumbar seats, Cruise control, Immaculate leather interior, Non-smoker. ---Additional Pictures http://onfinite.three10.com/home/BigGuy624/album/33171/ NEW: Exhaust, NKG spark plugs and wires, Turbo inlet duct, Starter, Alternator, Battery, Intercooler pipes, Aftermarket filter, and Short shifter. Perfect tan leather interior with the exception of a 2 inch tear on the left wing of the driver seat about rib cage level. Also the passenger side is missing a floor rug. The transmission will not shift into first or second gear, this is most likely due to a linkage issue (told by a mechanic where I live) but I cannot fully diagnose this myself as I do not live near my car at this time (college student). This Other than that, the car is in fantastic shape. I look forward to hearing from you, -Jason

Price$2,299

should i go for it?

Will it go into any other gears? When you push the clutch in and try to put it in gear does it make a grinding sound? If it won't go into any gear when you push the clutch in, it might be a bad master or slave cylinder or both. It just might not activate the clutch far enough to put it into gear. This is not an uncommon problem. Check the clutch fluid level, then if all else fails it might be a completely worn out clutch disc/pressure plate.

Let us know.

I find an easy rule of thumb to follow is that if the car is off and it still wont go into gear, the trannys probably about toast.

If its only hard to put into gear while the car is on, then its probably just a clutch issue.

And I couldn't justify buying a car for that much if the tranny needs to be pulled for whatever reason. Just me, though.

Offer him no more than $1800. I paid $2500 for one with 83K and I felt that was too much.
