Default Cam Installation "?"

I'll be installing my cams as soon as torque down the head. Is there a technique to get the cam to seat when installing the caps? I'm asking because I know that on some cylinders the valves will be partially opened causing tension on some of the lobes.

Please don't link me to the manual, I have that already. I know it seems simple in text. The lobes cause the cam to sit above the journals and it dosen't seem like the bolts are long enough to just slightly thread them, without precariously pushing down on the cam.

I haven't tried yet, I'm just anticipating my next step. Any help is greatly appreciated.

For certain things, I don't follow the TSRM.
(CPS installing, head bolt torquing, and camshaft installing/removal.)

When taking them off, I try to have it so that the No.6 cam lobe is directly facing the valve lifter/shim, and try to keep it from spinning.

I try to bring down the camshaft evenly.
It is weird--I just do it, but hard to explain it. heh

I once wrote this to a friend on how to remove the cams. Maybe tha helps.

then remove cam cap bearings #7 slowly without letting the cam spin

I do it this way because you will always have either one or two cams pushing the lifter/s, and I am not 100% sure that two 35pound springs won't slightly warp the head or cams. I try to be conscientious of the force applied by the springs.

What you are doing is a little more involved because you also have to deal with the cam gears and timing belt. So you are not just removing the cams off of a head that is off the block already. You are also talking about freeing the cam gears as well, and timing etc.
If you need more info, tell me.
It was either like this or nothing at all at this time of day for me.

Thank you for the help. I really appreciate it, but the info you've given seems like it's for removal. Tired ehhh? -_- zzZZ

i actually follow the tsrm mostly for installation of cams hehe

but when you place the cams on what i try and do is place it so that it's mostly down... so keep rotating it until its mostly in the journals and thread in the first 3 caps and bolts

are you following torquing procedure from the tsrm? i.e there are only 3 caps you initially thread down and you must torque them in passes... normally i go in 3 steps

did that help at all?
let me know if you'd like me to explain further

My main concern was the cam snapping. I've heard stories, but not with the 7M, I was still being cautious though. Cam installation went without a hitch, I was concerned for nothin . It's just a matter of tightening them down slightly, a little bit at a time. Thanx for the input.
