Gauging interest for composite products.
Hello all!,
A while back some of you may remember me asking about how many of you would be interested in having composite (carbon fiber, kevlar, fiberglass, etc.) parts made up for the MKIII. Well, the response was amazing and about a month ago I actually started putting together a composites shop. It took a lot of thought, effort and time but it's nearly finished now! I plan on being able to start building molds for 7M based MA70 MKIII Supra parts beginning of January, with actual production following a few weeks after. I myself own a 1G-GTE equipped GA70 MKIII, and hope to find enough people who own them to build molds for them as well. To give you an idea of what will eventually be available to you, here are a few of the types of molds I will be creating and their approximate cost breakdown; (in CDN) 1. Interior door panels. $400 a pair. 2. Per individual IC upper/lower piping. $75-$300. By per individual, I mean that unless I also sell an aftermarket intercooler and BOV w/pipe and flange to go with the IC piping, most everybody will have different parts and sizes required. Thus, every IC piping order will be based on the individuals specific needs. 3. Misc. engine bay parts like valve cover ($100), cam timing cover ($80), intake piping ($100), etc. 4. Targa top. $400. Yes, an ACTUAL full carbon fiber replacement Targa top. Others will surely pop up as the ideas keep flowing. Please be patient, as the shop is nearly done and there's much more work to do before creating even a single quality part to be sold to you. Just letting everyone know that it IS in the works, and I WILL keep you all posted with progress and pics. Cheers!, -=Littlestan=- [ST Composites] P.S. Feel free to leave any comments/thoughts/ideas. It helps me help you guys! ^^ |
damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!
that targa top will sell like hotcakes... heaps of ppl want those ;) hurry up already and get pics lol j/k when ya got em ready would love to see em :) |
That's freakin awesome. I hope your business grows into something special and I look forward to purchasing parts from you in the future.

Thanks much for the support guys!
I'll be working up to New Years night, then I'll take pics of my "clean room". Anyone else have anything to add? Things you'd like to see done, specific types of materials offered, etc.? I won't be producing just CF parts, so keep firing off those ideas! New things I'm adding to the product list for sure; 1. Door sills. $70 - $100 a pair, depending on material desired. 2. Misc. rear hatch interior covers. Not sure on prices yet. Speaking of prices, these are only figures I've come to on paper. Once I have a good mold and figure out exactly how much time and material is used, I can then figure out exact cost. Some may be more in the end, some may be less. Time will tell! :) Happy New Year all!, -=Littlestan=- |
Perhaps a carbon fibre OE style rear wing from the 89+ supra's would be nice?
Matt |
And also great idea on the carbon fibre targa top!! It'll look hot just the old ferrari 355 GTS F1's that had the carbon targa!! I'll be waiting to order one for sure!

Got all you Aussie's covered, Suprra_girl! ^^ Cheers and Happy New Year!, -=Littlestan=- |
that's really really cool!!! :D
but i'm a kiwi... that's what you call ppl that live in New Zealand ;) nz & aussie are two different countries :p |
isn't kiwi also a type of bird? i know its a fruit we already discussed that
|
lol
yes.. it's native to our country :) |
First off congrats on the shop, a huge step for anyone to venture out like that, and with a crowd like that is here you should be rolling in dough in no time.
If your gonna fab in non fiber... say some kind of clear composite... i know alot of people who would gladly trade their mothers for a set of clear front clearance lights. Everyone has turn signals for sale but not those little clearance lights. Can you do interior colors? Its very difficult to get any interior pieces in anything but black, you'd make a killing on OEM color interior parts. Carbon fiber center console? Again congratulations on the shop. |
Hey all!,
Suprra_girl - :D Sorry 'bout the confusion. I did notice you were from New Zealand, just didn't click in the 'ol noggin. My bad! Burn N' Up - Appreciate the kudos mon! I hope everyone will have an interest in at least one type of thing I make. As for your Q's; Quote:
and investing in the few different pieces of equipment such as a oven and heat-resistant materials outweighs normal temperature composites, I would need a group buy interest list of about 15 people. Sorry to sound like a defeatist! :( Quote:
carbon fiber and kevlar come in different material colors. If anyone did happen to want a carbon fiber or kevlar part a completely solid color I could do that as well, though I personally think that defeats the visual impact of it. Quote:
attatchments on the back to fabricate in, but it would be fun to design. I believe there's a person named "tte" in the misc. vendors section on www.supramania.com that is making them at the moment, so I would go to him first. I will talk to him soon and ask if he would mind me making them up here in Canada as he lives in California. Thanks for the questions guys! Not much to report on the shop atm, though I did manage to epoxy coat the tables in the Clean Room. $150 later... :) Have a good one guys, -=Littlestan=- |

Burn N' Up got me thinking about the clear plastic thing, and I just thought
of something I would REALLY like to make for the MKIII that's bothered me for awhile... A headlight conversion kit. There's something about those flip-up lights that bugs me. I can just hear all you guys out there gasping, but I think a set of perma lights would look great! Like this 300ZX... :D Anyways, how many on here would be interested in this? Please post or PM! Cheers, -=Littlestan=- [ST Composites] |
awsome! while the pop up lights ARE a supra thing, they kinda bug me too. i think on this matter though you either hate them or love them
|
That would be a sweet MOD!! and would really stand out!
|
i love my pop up lights, but at the same time, i could part with them to maybe see them converted to the 300 style. but i would have to see what it looks like on a supra before i make a drastic change.

Hey guys,
Managed to find a pic of a Supra with exactly the type of headlight conversion I'm looking for. Also, today I begin building my first mold! I decided to go with door sills as my first project. Straight forward design, and if I do bugger up (not like that's ever happened... :P) it won't cost me heaps of $$$. I'll take pics of the almost completed shop as well. Cheers!, -=Littlestan=- [ST Composites] |
ya ive seen that pic on that one site. i like that tlook, its different but still looks good
|
i was just thinking to myself, how about cf engine components? like maybe cam covers or timing belt cover or stuff like that. fan shroud, you get the idea.
|
Door Sills!!!
Put me down for a set of those door sills and the targa roof! Good luck on the venture. I'm sure you'll get quite a few purchases from off of this board.

Hey all!,
Ok, sorry to take so long in posting progress, but I got ALOT of stuff done lately. Namely; 1. Completed my door sill molds, and made my first pair! These are the first versions of the sills, and as such I didn't bother sanding/clearcoating them. Just wanted to make sure they get the nod of approval from you guys before making a zillion pairs. These will cost around $100 CDN. Not set in stone yet, but there it is. 2. Finished the shop! All that's left to do is wiring, but for now I have a temp setup that gives me the power I need. Ready to start working! Ok, now for answers. Quote:
temperature epoxies that are out there, but it's definitely do-able. I need opinions on what I should make next! I was thinking a replacement front windshield trim piece (see pic) or the rear hatch interior piece (see pic). What do you guys think? -=Littlestan=- [ST Composites] |
What web site is that pic from? The hood is the exact one I want to get for my MKIII dammit where did he find it?! Anyone?!
|
Hey guys,
Still need feedback on what to make next. Targa top is also an option, but will take longer to engineer and produce than the sills. Cheers!, -=Littlestan=- [ST Composites] |
damnnnnnnn those sills are on fire!!!!
and i think ur on to something with the front windshield cover ;) heaps of ppl's rust out and look horrendous pm me a special admin price on those sills and shipping to Auckland, New Zealand eh ;) |
So... Here's my thoughts. Could you do an entire interior in carbon fiber? Not everything but everything that is vinyl? ie. dash, door cover, console, etc? I was thinking a black leather and cabon fiber interior would be AWESOME!!! Let me know...
|
Quote:
is that the one? |
Hmmm, very close, that guy has the two smaller cowl inductions, but not the large one, i don't want the large on either. Where is that pic from stan.

Hey all!,
Sorry for being away for so long, but I've had nothing happening in the shop lately due to it being under a foot of water! We've had rain for 29 days straight here in the Lower Mainland and it turns out the shop is in a bit of a low spot. :P Soon sills wil be available for anyone who wants them though! Down to business; Quote: So... Here's my thoughts. Could you do an entire interior in carbon fiber? Not everything but everything that is vinyl? ie. dash, door cover, console, etc? I was thinking a black leather and cabon fiber interior would be AWESOME!!! Let me know... Yes, that's pretty much what I'm aiming for here. However, I won't be making certain parts that some other people already offer. Rather, I want to make pieces that nobody offers so anyone who DOES want to have every interior piece in CF, can! And I agree with you about the look of black leather/CF, but I hate how cold it is in the morning! Thanks for the input KNYFE. Burn N' Up, sorry for not PM'ing you the link earlier, I couldn't remember where I'd come across the pic... Have it on bookmark now. ^^ Anyways, I'll post again when the shop is fully operational again. Cheers, -=Littlestan=- [ST Composites] |
how bout CF bonnets?:)
|
So, if someone is already making some of these parts do you have links to them? I'm pretty sold on doing the CF and black leather interior. Thanks for the answer and help. I have the feeling you will be very popular for the monthes to come!!!

Ok!
Here's some pics of the new version sills. They might not look too different, but they definitely are. The old versions were exact copies of the stock sills. The new versions are straight cut on the edges, have a wider base plate, and I've molded it so the bottom radius is larger enabling you to run wires from the front or back of the car under the sill if need be. Shopwise, I estimate only 2 more days of drying out before it's good to go again. Can't wait to start working again! Strannik, I probably won't be making CF bonnets if j3pz is correct. I haven't searched around to see if other comapnies are making them, so if there isn't, it's definitely a possiblity. Anyways, enjoy! -=Littlestan=- [ST Composites] |
omg that is sexy! i can only imagine what the full interior with black leather would look like! oh wow
