Default what kind of clutch do you recommend?

I need a new clutch in my 89 turbo...any suggestions on what i should get? is there really that big of a difference between a stock toyota clutch and an aftermarket one? I was thinking a stage 1 exedy or spec...heard these are good. Lemme know. Thanks

Exedy, ACT, Clutch Masters are all pretty good clutches. It depends on your budget and application. If you've got regular bolt-ons and you're not going to take your car much further, stick with a stage 1 or 2. Don't get a stock one, you might as well upgrade if you've got to replace it.

Im looking to spend around 300 give or take some, for the clutch kit. I was wondering how much i can expect to spend on labor since i dont know how to install it myself. How long should it take a certified mechanic to put my clutch in? I just dont wanna get ripped off. Thanks.

Mine was slipping in 3rd 4th and 5th gears due to mods, so i went with a ebay XTD stage 3 pressure plate and disk but i had chatter and grabbing problems. so i took it apart and used a stock disk instead of the 6 puk and kept the stahe 3 pressure plate. I like it, its smooth like butta and no slipage under loads..
