The resonator is a small muffler in the exhaust, after the cat convertor. It is located under the center console. Many have been removed thru the years. With a decent muffler at the back, you can remove it without being "too" loud.
It really helps cut down on the "drone" sound that is created at certain RPMs. Without it, at 2k, it sucked. It gave me a headache to drive for 30 min.

maybe not a good idea i drive 25 miles to and from work everyday at highway speeds
