I have a 1988 Supra with a blown engine. Does anyone have experience with the installation of a Detroit V-8 (GM 350, Mopar 383/440, or Ford 360 etc)? Thanks for any help you can provide

This probably doesn't help you but it seems that a couple of guys have put 308 Holden V8s into the Mk2. Heres a link:

Oz Supra
Just go to the 'Reader's Rides' section

Might be of interest anyway.

even though its powered by a american v-8 its still a supra. seems to be a good idea. i used to know of a few places that made things like motor mounts and things like that. the shit has slipped my mind and now i'm wanting to do the swap i cant find anything on the net. i have found a guy who did a v-8 TT swap it was all custom though. so he isnt much of a help.

a lot of people here love the supra
meaning they are purist
a supra should be kept a supra
from inside and out

but its ur car, u can do anything u want with it
but if ur goinf for power, why not put the 2jz engine in
not a v8 but can definitely run a lot of ponies

the most that i have seen was a 1200 hp one

hey, my supra's 7mge blew up on my way home from getting it, and my dads a big mopar guy, and he has a few mopar 360's in his garage, one is built to the balls, and he felt bad for me and said if i kind out more info he will help me try to swap it in? does anyone know what kind of work this entails, or has anyone done it, im not finding anything on the internet about it, and the reason im wanting to do this to my supra is because for me to get parts for a 7mge when it acts up or a jz i will have to order the parts, if something goes bad on a 360 my dad has like 4 more that he can snag parts from, and i think it would make a unique car

Check out my videos on Youtube.com under Vacationtime247 for info on how to swap a V8 into a Supra. The Mopar 360 would be a good choice but you'll want to go with the tallest LSD rear gear you can get, I have a 700R4 behind my built 350 and use 3.73 gears.

I got an idea. Why not get u a mopar to put a 360 in? U guys need to do some research about the supra and find out what an advanced car it is for bein 20yrs old. And they don't make them anymore and haven for awhile meaning they are gonna be collectors with time.. and its people like u guys that make our true supras worth more money cuz your gonna cut your cars all up to put a SLOW ASS V8 into it.. even built to the moon which in my opinion is about 1200hp... a jz power to power will eat it alive. So if u think your gonna be fast then ya need to do your research or ur gonna be crawling to the finish line after u RUIN your supras. But like I said its people like u that makes ours worth more money. So thank you oh and if u are doing it to save money. Then why did u buy a supra in the first place. Its a sports car not penny pushers car. so if u have any respect for ur car is keep it Toyota. ps... not u supra girl. I kno u are a true to heart supra girl.

The 350 swap made the Supra reliably fast. I can go run low 12's all day on a bread and bologna budget without having to worry if it'll break down. The MKIII Supra is actually a great donor car for a domestic V8 swap. Plenty of engine bay space, independent rear suspension, rear seats and a muscle car look. A domestic V8 will provide the torque necessary to move the heavy Supra.
