Fun fun fun fun fun fun fun! Manual cars seem to run better in the snow. Put a few sand bags in the trunk to get more weight back there. No one or car is going to not slip and slide in the real slick stuff. Find an open parking lot and learn how to drive a little better in the snow. Find the slip angles and correct when you do get into a slide. Practice the braking too. If you have ABS, see how well it works. Light pressure on the brakes. Once you lock them up you have no steering, fwd or not.
I love driving in the snow and have done it in many different cars. Unfortunately it doesn't snow much here in Louisiana and seems to be happenig less and less.......global warming? If so, soon we won't have to worry about driving in the snow..............sigh. Russ |

last year here in maryland when we had snow i was drivin around my neighborhood and went off the road in a snow covered grassy spot. i got completly sideways and started to slide down the slight hill and got stuck. my buddy pulled me out with his big ass tractor. but as long as im on the road and not being stupid the car is good in the snow

a good set of snow tires makes all the difference, don't go cheap.
i once had a set of nearly-bald summer tires and winter came too soon so i didn't swap them, i could barely get up a 5 degree sloped road, tires spinning like mad. put on the snow tires and i'm passing everyone like i'm driving a tank with snow ski's and plowing through a foot of snow..... it makes such a huge difference. all season tires are bullshit, get some good snow tires and summer tires. and narrower tires will perform better in snow, i got 205/55/16's on the stock rims for mine.... they're cheaper too... i also had about 150lb of car audio in the hatch, so that might have helped too ![]() Last edited by born2drv; 11-21-2005 at 05:20 AM. |
