from what ive read black is the hardest color to look good, it will show every small imperfection so it it critical to have the color flawless before clear is applied. i dont think primer color is all that critical when more than 2-3 coats of color is being used.. but im no painter... any painters here?

Not a painter but my black supra shows every swirl, egg shell, and crack because of the Mako the last owner used =(.
The big thing with black... get a California Car Duster and a shammy(for bugs or the little grease spots the car duster leaves on occasion when they are new). Otherwise you'll wash it so often you'll scrub the paint right off =b Once you put your new paint on NO WAXING OR POLISHING FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS! Cannot over push this rule enough, just DON'T DO IT. You can wash, be gentle with your babies new skin. Nice soft hand mit. Washing will also help harden the paint and get it ready for waxing. Good luck! Also if your planning on body kitting your car, do it now, that way everyone gets painted the same time and no one part looks faded or newer =) |

i got mine in jet black....glossy too, but yea u pretty much see the swirls and all...with maaco u just get a maaco paint job, but i had someone else do it plus teh engine bay....its not cool when the outside is black and the bay is red....i dont mind the swirls from teh wax and wash...its not a show car, i made it so it would perform thats all...sitting pretty is just a plus

I agree with everyones comments on black. It will show every imperfection, bodywave and dings are easily detectible. The body has to be immaculate if you want black. Especially that darkest black you want, Jet Black. If your doing this yourself, I'd highly recommend a different color.
