Question Pps steering rack in non pps 87 supra nt ?

I screwed up & bought the wrong Rack - That's what I get for buying it after Midnite - Of course PPS Solenoid Pressure Valve gives u "parking mode PS boost" for ease of steering when idling per the ECU via Solenoid Pressure Valve on this newer year Rack - SO>>> I'll never NEVER see parking mode PS boost which would be fine of course ... BUT it also boosts "progressively" thru speeds so unsure how that's gonna turn out...

I have this helpful jewel thanx to yall:

Question

Well it fits - The Hi Pressure Line w/ Banjo will line up - The reason the PPS Rack (& maybe all the later year MKIII Racks) are an inch or so longer on Passenger side is that there's no Steering Damper hookup on this newer MKIII Rack - I need the Solenoid Pressure Valve that's part of & plugs into Toyota Pressure Valve PN (44020-50090) - Not having a lotta luck finding one online so if u know source let me know...

- I did find this though:

- "but what I've learned is even with it disconnected, there will still be power assistance"

Works great w/no electrical input to PPS Valve - Steering is weighted nicely w/car moving - Idle up feature keeps it fm being too heavy when stopped running stock size Falken Tires - Absolutely ZERO effect fm having no Steering Dampener being I have PPS Rack.

Biggest thing about Rack replacement is to make sure that u clean up the collapsable part of column & lube that up VERY well - That's because u use that travel to mate Shaft Spline fm Rack to Universal at Firewall AFTER u adjust Tie Rod Threads equally to 1/2 inch or so & secure Steering Wheel at center w/bungies - If u have Air Bag make sure u secure Steering Wheel at Center w/bungies BEFORE separating Shaft fm Universal at Firewall because of Clock Spring limits - Older cars like mine have no Clock Spring.

Thanks for the information.
Going to have to replace mine soon ('86.5 Supra). When I replaced the tie rods I ran into an issue with dampening mount being in the way. Simply cut it off and kept on going. Hasn't been a problem at all.
