Water valve problem

I have a problem with water valve leaking on a lever.Must I replace it or have a way to bridge it?

I'm not sure what part you're referring to. Could you post a picture?

this one on the second picture where the bolt is.I have a waterfall sound behind the dashboard and when I goes hard on her the temperature goes up and when I drive normaly it will drop. And like the coolant disappear after a one hour driveing. And also when I turn the heat on it blows cold air

If the valve is leaking you could bypass it and give up having a heater or bypass it so that the heat is always on. I don't think either will make you very comfortable in the long run. I would try to find a used valve for replacement. The valves don't seen to fail very often, it's the connected VSV which controls it that usually fails.

So the lower part of 87240, where the two hoses meet, is leaking?

If so then you just need to find a replacement. You can bypass that valve for the time being with a 90 degree pipe and your heat will work fine. Your air conditioning will also work with it bypassed but it won't get quite as cold.

yes betwen two hoses is plastic part or the valve with the lever on it with bolt there is the leak.So can I just remove it and put 90 degre hose for the time I find the replacment or must I replace it right away.

And sorry if I ask but what is the purpose of it

cre 11-14-2013 01:34 AM

It's a bypass valve for the heater core. MOST of the time (except for when the AC is set on HI and when the car is warming up) it's open and allows coolant to flow through the heater core. Bypassing it will just keep coolant running through the heater core even when the car is still warming up and when the AC is set on HI. You probably won't notice a big difference except that it might take your car another minute or two longer to warm up.
