Hello again. I feel like I'm on here way more than I should be, but I've got an issue. Again.
I have an '89 7MGTE 5spd and I just replaced the clutch master cylinder and things were peachy for a few hundred miles. I noticed that the clutch engaged at the very top of the pedal throw, but it seemed to be working fine. Today, it just went. It sort of engages but only partially, and then the smell of toasty clutch, so I'm assuming the clutch has seen it's day. I had it towed to a local tranny shop and they're quoting me roughly a grand. 5.4 hours labor, $200-300 for a clutch, $90 to resurface the flywheel, $66 for 3 quarts of fluid, and tax. That seems a bit steep to me. Anyone more experienced have a good idea of whether or not this is a fair sum? I know there was a thread similar to this recently, but I couldn't understand a word of it. Grammar questionable at best, and the post got derailed before much input was given: http://www.toyota-supra.info/forums/...ra-clutch.html Also, the shop said that there are two clutches available for the car, a 9 1/4" and a 9 1/2". Anybody know if the Turbo needs one or the other? Thanks for your help!
