Default Put in a 5.0 ford?

Hey cre and anyone else, we just got our butts handed to us in the lemons races by our nearest and dearest supra competitor. He showed up with a chevy small block in his mark 3, mated to his w58, and picked up 13 seconds per lap, and was the fastest car on the track. BTW you should have seen all the BMW cheaters whining like hell - because somebody was a bigger cheater than them, and it levelled the playing field!
might as well have cut off their lug nuts - if you know what I mean!

Lucky for us some of his guys can't drive, and they do stupid stuff. But if we want to have a horse in the race for overall - we are going to have to step up!
We plan on keeping our tried and true MGE in one of the Supras, but now we are thinking about going to a 5.0 ford - 100 lbs lighter that the chevy, less power, but that engine has won several races, while in lemons racing - SBC = blown up on day 1. any thoughts? ideas?

I know you guys are not big on engine swaps, at least away from Toyota, but if we did that - we get penalized. if you do a frankencar swap, they go easy on you, giving you some credit for creativity.

thanks

Rules and concept of the series would have us end up aith a 10 or 20 lap penalty - not competitive. Right now however i am considering a Chevy ZZ4 with 355 hp. have the motor just sitting there after an unfortunate rollover in our corvette road race car.

I don't see anything wrong with a domestic swap in a case like this. I must confess that I don't understand why a 1UZ would net you a larger penalty then a higher displacement domestic V8.

I say fucking do it! I have a 302 in my 89 rx7 fc. Attached to a t5, I love it. Mines fuel injected however but the power is awesome, and fuel economy isn't bad at all

well it's the franken - wierdness factor" If you "stretch " the 500 buck rule, if you do it in a way that is creative and wierd and unusual, they tend to encourage that, just for the "I didn't know that was possible" effect. These guys really like wierd, we have a miata running with a 2 stroke motor, a geo Metro running Honda 1000 motors including chain drive and sequential tranny, , diesel whatevers, rx7's with SBC, a mr2rear end hooked to a corrolla front end - with both engines running, all sortsd of weird stuff. So just bolting in a motor from the same company , thats just out and out boring, and probably cheating, but put a 5 cylinder benz diesel motor into a honda civic with 4 wd- thats smiled upon!

Love the dual engine Corolla-2! I was going to suggest a 3S-GTE swap with a baby eating turbo... or perhaps 4 tiny turbos out of older Audis or Volvos.
