mk3 supra backfiring

hello ive got a toyota supra 1990 turbo 5 speed manual it backfires when i start it so it turns over and then bang it backfires out of the intake. i think it might be timing becuase i havnt adjusted my cps yet but i also think it might be the firing order. can somone give me the firing order from the left to the right on the coils that the spark plug wires hook up to. thaks i appreciate all the help

Search kid,

At the coil pack: 1-6-3-4-2-5 At the block: 1-5-3-6-2-4

Get the wires in place and then set the CPS. See the FAQ on setting timing.

Now you're pushing it.... google not working on your computer? Cylinders front to back = 1 to 6. Count them off and plug the wires in as listed above.

I've said it before and I feel I must say it again: The MKIII Supra is the WORST car for even a half experienced amateur... much less a complete novice. Any car this old is a terrible choice but the MKIII tends to always come in at the top of the list for bad daily driver/amateur project car.

Yes I know that it's 123456 cylinders I just don't understand why they're at a certain order 153624

I phrased that poorly but I think it was obvious enough in the thread I linked to. That's the order of ignition: #1 fires, then #5 fires, then #3 fires, then #6 fires, then #2, then #4. It's wasted spark so they really fire in pairs; One fires on the ignition stroke while the other is firing on the exhaust stroke. For now it's merely academic. Just focus on the coil order for now and get everything wired correctly.
