Smile Distributor

My distributor has been leaking oil from the bottom side weep hole, my first instinct was to change the o ring on the shaft. so i did. and still it is leaking oil so i figured its time for a new distributor as this is one of the parts i didn't replace during my rebuild (7mge) anyway might as well get a new one. Now i know usually when it comes to car parts the more you pay the better the quality, but sometimes this can be misleading. I have been looking at the ones they have on partsgeek.com on of them is new and the brand is richporter technology, the other is refurbished and it is A1 Cardone. which of these should i get to be the most efficient and long lasting any help would be greatly appreciated as i am very tired of adding oil i just want to do and oil change every once in a while lol

Personally I'd just rebuild my old one, but that's me.... cheap but handy enough to get away with it.

I really don't think you're going to see any significant difference between a new unit or a reman in this case. Look at the warranties and weigh the cost differences. I think the Richporter will come with a new cap and rotor too, so if you need to replace those then factor in that cost with the cost of the reman.

also i forgot to say the timing on the distributor desides to change where it wants to be every two days or so, its not moving itself just starts getting a fluctuating idle i can adjust it up or down and it will fix it but in a couple days it starts fluctuating again.

Got Grammar?

How are you adjusting the timing? Intermittent, wandering idle isn't an indication of an incorrect ignition advance. I suspect something else is going on and your timing tweaks are just hiding it.... that or the distributor is physically broken and moving it is lining up some just right so it works until that part drifts some more (usually wiring in that situation).
