Default Winter project: Paint sensors/brackets chrome.

So this winter i want to paint the sensors and sensor brackets chrome. Basically I want to chrome everything. ABS motor, cruse control etc. My friends grandpa might be letting me borrow his parts cleaner since he doesnt use it hardly. I plan on first sanding the parts down with a low git and probably 2 more times with a high grit respectively. Now the only problem i can see with this is the electronic pieces. I'm fairly sure i wont be able to use them in the parts cleaner considering they would get wet with mineral spirits. If anyone wants to comment with some tips or anything else that would be great.

i definitely plan on using the cleaner on everything non electric and sanding them as well. Your probably right about the rag thing. What would someone recommend for grits? I used 150 for my valve covers and that was it. I was thinking something like 150 and 300. I would do three different grits if need be. Ill also be painting my block as well but i wont be able to take it out of the engine bay unfortunately. Mineral spirits on that too ya think too? I'm so excited to start this its insane. Also i was told use regular chrome paint and do a high heat clear coat. What do u all think?

Chrome paint looks terrible. Chrome paint on everything in an engine bay looks even worse... Google Lamarossa for a good (f*&kin' horrible) example of how to ruin a Supra.

Ha. That job is a little over board i think. I would like to do chrome but i think im going to try some different colors along with chrome to see which one i like. I'm just excited cause it's a cheap job that will really spice up my bay and I get to work on my car. Since money is tight it's perfect for me. Maybe go with black for some stuff. I wanna paint the block black for sure though. High temp gloss turn out good?

Chrome paint always turns out like crap (the same with any paint that claims to achieve the look of plating whether it's chrome, gold, whatever). I've seen photo's of a couple "good" jobs and still in real life they look bad. Either get the parts powder coated or truly chromed; removing and cleaning off a bad paint job is miserable. Remember, as with anything on a Supra, cheap often ends up costing you MORE. That's my advice and I'll shut up about it now.

Well regardless of that I am still going to see what it looks like.
