The fart (like people farts) becomes evident when there's a greater volume of air to be expelled (higher RPM, higher throttle in the case of an engine; Mexican food in the case of many humans and my dogs). Personally, I think it's awful and in many cases it may be costing you power just like removing the intake resonator.
