Mine HAD 150k on it. I still passed the Calif smog test. I replaced it when I had a custom exhaust fabricated.

If an engine is kept in good condition, and problems that come up are fixed quickly, a cat can last a very very long time.

What kills cats are:
1) physical damage (from hitting something),
2) running the car too rich a fuel mixture (burns them out),
3) oil burning engine, usually due to worn internal parts (coats the internals and so they can't function.

I run a smog shop, so I know these things.
