Lots of white smoke
Ive read aorund that white smoke can be caused by anit freeze getting into the system, what if your not running anti freeze but straight water? Will water cause white smoke also?
|
yes, this will still cause white smoke, its simply some of the vapors of what is being burned in the combustion chamber, if this is happening in the cold weather during startup and goes away after warmup its just the warm air from the exhaust hitting the cold air and creating steam
|
thought so, its defently not cold out here, it smokes like CRAZY when I start it up tho, but it goes away in about 10 second or less, another thing to it takes a few key turns to get it started, maybe fuel is building up in the chambers when its turning over?

U may have a blown head gasket. So you could be losing compression causing hard starts or the water fouled out ur plugs and the spark ain't that hot no more so it does lite the gas Good
|
BHG is a good idea, best way to check that is to let the engine cool all the way down and remove the radiator cap, start engine and see if it bubbles as the engine warms up, if so gasket is bad or head is cracked, as for the hard startup, im having the same issue when its cold, i think it might either be a clogged fuel filter or a slight leak in the gas line causing the car to lose fuel pressure
|
Will there is no bubbles commin up, I had my cap off to check water flow.
|
then your head gasket is good, check fuel system including filter
|
Take off the oil fill cap and look on the bottom for milky looking stuff
|
Oil is clean.
|
are you sure its completely white? or a blueish white color. Also what does it smell like? coolant smells like a sickly sweat smell..
My idea is that perhaps your getting oil into your spark plugs and when it fires it's burning it off. Now this can be caused by a multiple of reasons. Most of which im not really ready to get into. post back with the smell. |
Now's a great time for smell-o-vision to have been already invented...
|
if you cant tell the difference between anti freeze and oil.. sell your car. or experiment till you can tell the two apart. heres a good one, anyone know what tranny fluid smells like.. I do :(

the old autobox isn't liking my nasty habit of driving hard, regularly... mind you 11/12psi boost was probably not in the design brief haha My guess (obviously without hearing/seeing & smelling the thing) would be either valve guides/stem seals for the moment... although to have a BHG doesn't guarantee bubbles in the coolant so it can't be ruled out. |
Bhg
It's a BHG pal everything they said to you was said to me,same problem you're having I had it no bubbling radiator no oil in antifreeze and vice versa.
compression 180 etc no one guided me correctly,so I said FT and pulled the head lo and behold #1 & #6 piston washed clean metal seal on HG tiny crack and anti freeze was getting in.Good luck. The forum was not very helpful to me. |
Yep, thats why I went somewhere else, everybody always has to come up some smart ass commet so... good bye
|
I don't see how this forum has giving anyone bad information PERIOD. wow so glad to know we told you what to check for instead of assuming the dooms day scenario of BHG.. SOO sorry for suggesting to check other more easily fixable things then just blaming it on one end all problem.. you two can take your negative attitudes else were..
it's not like were a bunch of genies. Not one of us is physically at your car, we can't do a hands on inspection. We go with the information provided and start at the beginning with more reasonable troubleshooting. We do this as a service, as a community based knowledge pool, IN OUR SPARE TIME. So how about you get off your high horse for awhile. Or there's the door. |
We'll all have a good laugh when you go through the trouble of pulling your cylinder head off to find a nice, intact head gasket.
Have fun elsewhere. |
Actully its not the HG, it was my PCV system, one of the guys on a different forum picked it out right away. Ill take the door.
