billet aluminum balancer pulleys, my freind had one made, full size, they are 400 a piece plus shipping. they are about 2 lbs. if anyone is interested, let me know, heres a picture of one, its the first two pictures.

if theres enough interest i can get him to make some.

The idea of the manufacturer making a harmonic balancer is to dampen out the vibrations made by the moving parts to promote a smooth running engine at high revolutions for a long-life. Best of luck ! I believe it will not be long before he's heading for a rebuild.

Unsprung balancers are a bad idea on regularly driven vehicles. Now a lighter, sprung balancer is always nice.... but hard to fabricate.

true our balancers are superior to a straight up aluminum piece. even better than ours are fluid dampers.

but these are for built engines, preferably balanced very well (as mine is, and his.)

hes been running the crappy OBX pulley for 3 years, and was tired of not having enough alternator power and his other accessories spinnin so slow. so he got a balancer from me and made a full size.

if your motor is built right, then running this for a period of time shouldnt be a big issue. biggest strain will be on the bearings, and if you get good bearings it wont be and issue for a good amount of time.

but like i said, these wouldnt be a bolt-on for a 20+year old engine. these would be if you have a moderate to highly built motor and have taken all factors into consideration.

the fact that my freind has been running his for so long with NO problems is a testament to that fact.

still stands tho, my buddy will get some made if anyone wants one.

like i said hes used his 3 years plus (the obx) in his buggy and he beats the shiz out of it.

anyway, im interested in anyone elses opinions on this subject! especially people who are running obx pulleys (i dont blame anyone for not, ive seen how crappy their quality is :eek3:)

he should make a billet crankshaft,
that would be soooo much better..

it would be G...and spendy.

a lightweight billet crank would cost sooooo much money. and at that point, i would try and squeeze every cubic inch out of it, and since the stroker idea is essentially a dead horse....i dont see the point.

the cranks in these motors are pretty stout. and with a nitriding and/or cryo treatment, i dont see them having problems.

itd be nice if he could figure how to make that billet aluminum pulley into a fluidamper. lighter, just as strong, and exceptional harmonic dampening.

but like you said, stocks are good anyway..
im looking into a forged one with a different stroke pattern
or even if the 1jz crank will fit in a 7m..
i personally want torque and horseys..
and a longer piston stroke would be a great start(along with my engine rebuild)

i may not be looking at it right(or it may be the fact that i dont even know what a supra harmonic balancer looks like) but isnt this way to big?

no its actually the same size as the stock balancer. i sent him an extra one so he could make this. he just got reeeeally close with the camera i guess.

and as for a different stroke pattern or putting the jz crank in, theres not a whole lot of gain to be made. unfortunately the 7m is pretty maxed out stroke and bore wise, and the strokers that have been made are a whopping .2 liters of increase...

as for a jz swap, im pretty sure the bore spacing is different, so it wouldnt fit. not to mention, at that point, you might as well just put a jz in, its a better motor all around, not that the 7m is bad at all tho haha.

ive always been a lil more old school myself so i like being able to squeeze what i can out of the older motors.
