sounds like bad valve seals and improper shim sizes. they are prolly warming up after a few mins and soaking up the excess space.

prolly wanna do the seals and shims again, take it back to the shop and tell them whats up and they should redo it free. also tell them you want all the shim measurements to compare with stock specs.

gotta be real careful who u take these heads too, some places do it just like a SBC head and it doesnt work like that.
