Default Front mount problems... opinions?

i have a 1987 toyota supra (turbo of course)

the piping connecting to my front mount has seemed to pretty much come apart at one of the connection points... its not hanging its still in-tact but instead of my 6 pounds of boost i am only getting 2. i can feel it lagg when i really get on the gas.

idk if i should get a whole new front mount with bigger piping or what? if so how will i kno if it will fit my car if i buy it online?

my mechanic recommended me getting bigger piping, he says my bloff off valvue is causing too much pressure in the pipe lines and is forcing it off.

thanks for your help and opinions... all are welcome!

Blow off valves release pressure... they don't cause it. I advise you start with a new mechanic before you get new parts.

EDIT: Okay... that was a bit short and pissy. Let's get caught up... If the BOV is the source of the problem, has he already replaced it? By the way, the stock OEM BOV defaults to open when it fails... hence you get less pressure, not a BIG increase.

There aren't many direct fit kits for the MKIII, most of what you find on eBay are "universal" kits which require a good deal of planning and some work to get them to fit... they're not terrible, but it will be some work. The universal front mount intercoolers will require the fabrication of mounting brackets too.

If you search around you can find Spearco replica ICs which have the same mount points and the piping is in the same location as the stock setup; it's a lot easier. 2.5" is a nice size increase and it's about the biggest you can fit without difficulty. If you do get a universal kit off of eBay then you'll want to make sure the couplers which come with it are either 3 or 4 ply silicone of good quality and do not use standard hose clamps.

Now, if your mechanic's telling you what needs done, why didn't he cover this? Sorry... I hate people who half-ass the job.

You could run without a BOV and still not surge anywhere near high enough to blow a coupler.

So, what precisely is damaged?
