Smile need Advice on motor swap plzzz

About to change out the motor in my 89 supra to an 87 however i dont know if there is any major differences in the cpu or if the mkIII supras roughly have the same engine and transmission?

Any advice or precautions necessary while doing this swap would be greatly appriciated

We need more details. Are u goin turbo or na. Or na to turbo. Or turbo to turbo? The plugs are different under the dash from 87 to 89

You need to use the ecu with the motor u are using. If they are both turbo then or both na then change the harness from your old motor to your new motor. And use your old ecu. ONLY IF THE MOTOR U ARE PULLING IS THE SAME AS THE ONE GOIN IN

Motor mounts are also different so take the mounts off your 89 engine and put on your 87

Default non turbo

my 89 is a non turbo model with an automatic tranny it has a ect button and over drive (not sure if this is a special package). I would like to go turbo with the 87 motor and change out my automatic tranny to a manual 5 speed.

Okay there are a bunch of threads about this. but you are gonna need an 89+ harness from a 7mgte.

Check this link out. Its a pretty good list. Most of the stuff on the list comes with the motor. Or all of it comes if you have the 87 car.... my thoughts would be go jz. More bang for buck. BY FAR. But more spendy. Cost me 4k.. try Google it has thousands of posts just like this one. just type in 7mge to 7mgte
