Yeah uh that pretty much sucks, LOL. I honestly think I may just re-list the car for sale and attempt to break even. What kind of cost might you figure I am looking at to fix it. I am not very mechanical. The leak is coming from that thick rubber area on the rack. It was like drip, wait 30 seconds, drip, wait, drip....

Well check the connections first, it could always be a loose hose.

Of course Meineke wont actually inspect the problem. They went ahead and quote me $645 to change out the rack and pinion system altogether. Said hey if it's leaking it needs replacement. hmmmm
Upon inspection I see the black rubber seals have simply cracked and split apart. On drivers side where leak is, it is coming thru the black rubber seal. Cant they just throw on a new seal? I understand there may be an isuue beneath the seal. But i doubt it would be leaking if the seal was intact. |
