Exclamation Control arm drilling (for zerks)

I have energy susp bushings in the front, but I'm getting some creaking. I heard that you can drill the LCA's to insert grease zerks..I'm a lil worried about harming the bushingsany advice is much appreciated thanks.

LCA... Lower control arm? I must be confused, what precisely are you talking about greasing with said fitting? Squeaks are a given with high density bushings... lube them up with a good dry lubricant and you should be fine for quite a while. I've also heard that silicone spray lubricants work well but require reapplication more often (but they're easier to apply).

Thumbs up

Thanks cre for the timely reply. I read that some ppl drill the lower control arm where the bushings are located and install grease fittings, but if you're saying to avoid that I will heed your advice

I generally have a problem with drilling into critical components when there are other methods... even if it'll save you 10 minutes per bushing when you relube in the future. With a good PTFE based lube you probably won't need to relube more than 2 to 3 times a year (if that)... do it when you change your oil and inspect your suspension. You can always get crazy with the drill later if you still feel the need. BTW, I've heard some reports that powdered lubes like graphite work quite well too, but I'd try a drying PTFE based lube first.
