Well have you ever stoped to think of how much 3 quarts of oil is? Some cars only use that much for a whole oil change. My mom's subaru uses oil like crazy and never appears to have a leak of appear to burn it either. And as far as the dash cluster goes, it took less than a hour for me to get it out the first time. You just need a few simple tools and time. The only problem I ran into was that the physical size of the bulb changed, the bulb number is the same but the bulb is slightly bigger so a dremel is in order.

3 quarts is MASSIVE!!! You were one stiff turn away from a dead engine... not joking.

I agree, Its full now and not jacked up so we will see how long it takes for a quart to leave, drove 16 miles today with no change or obvious leaks. Will keep a close eye on it. As flaky as our guages can be on the MK3 especially the oil pressure I am lucky I didn't just assume it was the guage and keep driving. If you don't see it leaking you assume it's still there. The web is full of reports abut the pressure guage being very unreliable on our cars. I guess it is entirely possible someone emptied it while it was jacked up. People have stopped here a lot asking about my cars wanting to buy them for $100 as junk, also a 4x4 Big Bear ATV was stolen from my neighbors driveway just a couple of nights ago. So there is some crap going down here at night. Even if I blew it up I wouldn't sell it for $100 to scrap heads. Its still running strong even after running it with 2 quarts in it. Maybe it was treated with Slick 50 way back, who knows?

Why would "they" drain only 3 quarts and not the whole thing and I'm sure someone would off at least got some oil on the ground.
